When Brakes Talk, Drivers Should Listen

When it comes to driving safely, it's easy to take your vehicle's ability to stop for granted - until you really need it.

According to brake expert Akebono, your brakes often reveal possible serious situations when they make noise, pull, judder - another term for vibrate - or feel soft. Addressing these symptoms promptly enhances your safety and may save time and money in the long run.

It's Time for the 21st Century Tune-up

Times are changing...cars are changing. One of the biggest changes in today's automotive industry is the perception of a "tune-up." Ask 10 vehicle owners their definition of a tune-up and chances are there'll be 10 different answers. The classic "tune-up" was once the heart of the automotive business and contrary to some beliefs, today's modern vehicles still need tune-ups to keep them performing at the most efficient levels.

A Good Time to Take Control of Your Gas Expenses

Bethesda, MD - March 18, 2008 - April is National Car Care Month, the time of year to focus on taking better care of your second largest investment. Take Control of Rising Gas Prices: Don't Let Your Money Evaporate

Fight skyrocketing gas prices by taking control of your vehicle's unnecessary fuel consumption, advises the Car Care Council. Consumers can add miles to every gallon they pump by following a few easy and inexpensive maintenance steps with their car, SUV, minivan or pickup truck.

"Most motorists don't realize that it's the little things that don't take a lot of time or cost much that can really make a difference when it comes to saving money at the pump," said Rich White, executive director of the Car Care Council. "Loose or missing gas caps, underinflated tires, worn spark plugs and dirty air filters all contribute to poor fuel economy."

TPMS Will Tell You if Your Tires are Under Pressure

Bethesda,
MD - March 6, 2008 - You've just purchased a new vehicle and already a dashboard warning light is on, but this is one you might not have seen before. There's a good chance it's the new warning light tied to the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), which as of 2008, is standard on all new cars and light trucks, according to the Car Care Council.

When this warning light comes on, it means pressure in at least one of the tires has fallen 25 percent under the recommended pressure. Low tire pressure can be due to a number of factors, including climate, road hazards and driving conditions. Although it varies by vehicle, the warning light will go off when tires are inflated to the correct pressure as outlined in the owner's manual.
